I have a car loan through Chase Bank. If I pay with a check and mail it in, there is no extra charge. However, if I pay by debit card online, they charge me $10 extra. It seems to me that it would cost Chase bank less money and time to process an electronic payment then it would be to process paper. Is it just me or is Chase Bank just charging me for the convience, even though it's a convience for them also?

Because they can!!!! Use online banking, Chase is set up to receive electronic transferrs from online banking customers, therefore the pymt is there within 24 hrs.

I had paid the bill online before using another bank account. I opened a new account with chase and they double paid my chase credit card out of the old bank and the Chase bank. It was a huge payment and overdrew me at my old bank because I didnt expect it. I am mad because they would not admit their mistake and now have waited for my checks to clear and plan to close the account. They do not want me to close their account. They are not friendly at the teller window. The woman who I spoke with on the telephone about the double payment was rude and hateful and I just want out of this account. Now they want to talk to me before I close the account. Why?

My bank is Chase. My stepmom has access to my online banking; it is part of her account. If I deposit a check into the account, using online banking can she see who wrote the check? I was just wondering how it would show up. Thank you So if I just cash it.. then it won't show? I forgot to mention that it is a work check, it is addressed from a treasury department and University.

It depends. Some banks, instead of sending back your checks with every statement, send only copies of the checks, and this may include all checks deposited to the account. If you go online and look at the statement, you can click on any line item on the statement and it will bring up an image of that item, front and back. If Chase does that then yes, by going into the online statement and clicking on any item she will be able to see an image of that item. If the deposit item in question is a check drawn on a local bank, you may be able to go to that bank and cash it, then take the cash and make a cash deposit into your joint checking account. This way all your mom can see is a cash deposit. if you don't even want her to see the cash, and need to pay some bills, take the cash and go to the post office and buy money orders for the amounts of the bills you need to pay, and send the money orders as payments. This way, your mom will not see any deposit at all, or at most a very much reduced one. I used to do all this to keep it looking like I had no income and no deposits to my checking account. Once I went to the post office and bought a total of $5,000 in a whole bunch of money orders, and only $300 or so actually made it as cash into my checking account. For all intents and purposes if you looked at my checking account it looked like I was dead broke and in abject poverty.
