I'm really sick of wells fargo lately, their online banking SUCKS and purchases either don't show up for days or they show up, disappear, then show up later. Yeah I'm not too great with my finances but I'm really sick of their crappy service, so who should I switch to?! Around here we got Bank of America, Washington Mutual, and US Bank...I've heard a lot of good things about Washington Mutual...anyone use em?

As someone who works in the industry and a current Wells Fargo customer, I can say that Wells has much more services than Washington Mutual. Whether it's student loans, mortgages, secured credit cards, brokerage, insurance, grocery store branches or some other financial-related thing, if it's legal, Wells Fargo probably does it. I've heard WaMu is more strict in reversing overdraft fees than Wells Fargo too (ex. WF does something like $100 per 6 mos. but WaMu's new account only waives one fee per year -- $25). And purchases using your debit card are all going to process the same, for the most part, no matter what bank you use. I try to always keep at least $100 in my account. I like Wells Fargo because in California where I live, there's more ATM's than WaMu. And since I have my mortgage with them, they give me a checking account that waives fees at other ATM Since my credit isn't all that great, I started with a secured credit card, got upgraded to a normal one a year later and have been happy ever since. I'd compare what WaMu or US Bank gives you that Wells doesn't, then go to Wells and see what they can do. Don't forget about credit unions either. They usually have really good rates (for auto loans) but not that many locations. It depends on the area you live in.

I'm suspicious of some of the charges I received for an overdrawn account partly because of the delays for POS purchases charged to my account which are not posted right away online, and the inaccuracy of posted available funds because of it though the transactions are approved by the bank itself. In fact, sometimes pending charges from POS purchases somehow become available funds posted and days later become a debit causing the posting of inaccurate available funds and subsequent overdrawing of the account. I know I can better watch the balance, but am I wrong for thinking that I can check my available funds online with "Wells Fargo Bank"?

Sounds like you need a course in how to manage your check book. POS charges will not come though sometimes until the business balances it's books at the end of the day or days later. You still have to have the funds available to cover these charges plus any other outstanding checks, atm withdrawals etc. Just because you check your balance and it says you have money doesn't mean you really do have money. It just means all of your outstanding items may have not come in yet. You should not use your checking account for anything for a few weeks, wait for everything to come in. Go to the bank and get a copy of your account and see what your real balance is. You can also have the bank help you straighten out your account. The bank is not in the wrong, you are.

Not a major deal. Just make sure they numbers that are missing are listed in your register and there is a logical reason why they haven't cleared yet. They may have been mailed a longer distance, the payee may just have not cashed or deposited your check yet, etc. Just make sure you know who they are too and that they are not lost or stolen. If you feel they may be lost or stolen, contact your bank immediatley to put a stop payment on the missing checks.

Are the funds available to me right away? The transfer was made at 11:30 am. It says pending, but can i still use the money right away?

The amount listed under "Available Balance" is the only amount that can actually be accessed right now. Anything labeled "pending" is still going through the banks' processes, i.e. verifying account info., personal identification, funds availability, etc., before making it "available" to the customer.
