I've worked in corrections and have been employed in casino surveillance for the last 6 years but looking to do something a little more hands on like the bail bonds business, any suggestions of places to start would be greatly appreciated.

Bail is an amount of money used by the court to ensure the defendant returns to court when required to do so. There are typically two factors the judge considers before setting bail. 1. Is the defendant a danger to the community? 2. What is the likelihood the defendant will flee? The judge will consider both positive and negative factors before setting the bail amount. These may include: 1. Type of crime (victimless?, weapons involved?, other persons) 2. The defendants prior history (arrests, convictions, and reliablity in returning to court previously) 3. Ties to the community (married, children, home owner, employed) 4. Defendants appearance and demeanor (fleeing arrest, failure to appear, combative, slovely) 5. Victim's statement. It is the attorney's responsiblity to file a "Motion to Modify Release Conditions" to attempt to lower the bond. You might consider the option of electronic monitoring or home arrest to give the judge some options other than monetary. Also, try to negotiate collateral with a bail bondsman. Frequently they will be a little more considerate if they feel the defendant will go to court.

My father-in-law got arrested and asked me to find a bail bond person. He said he would put up his car, truck, and horse trailer. If he does this do I still have to pay something? Do does this work? I have no idea what I am doing but I do know I have no money to get him out so will his car, truck, and trailer replace money or what? Please help!!!

If all you're doing is finding someone for him to use, you're just hooking the two of them together. It will be up to your father in law to put up the value of his assets to secure the bond. (It's basically a loan to get him out of jail, the bailbondman makes 10% above what he puts up.) If he owns all of those items outright, the BB man will have him give up the titles to cover the note. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING!! If you co-sign the bond, you're on the hook for the "loan" if he skips and misses his court dates. Just get him some phone numbers and back away, quickly!

This man hit a 16 year girl and killed her. He left the the accident and did not render aid. He had no DL no insurance no nothing. The police had to track him down and arrest him. Now they are saying if he gets free on bond they are going to deport him back to Mexico. He kills someone gets out of jail and all he gets is deported back to his country just to be able to sneak back over here and be a free man. See below. Felipe Manuel Sanchez who is being held at Lew Sterrett on charges of failure to stop and render aid to 16 year old Garland teen Jessica Hopper recently had his bail bond lowered. The charge is a third degree felony. Originally he was being held on $50,000 but on Oct. 26, a judge at his court hearing had the bond cut in half to $25,000. According to Deputy Raul Reyna of the Dallas County Sheriffs Department, if Sanchez does post bond he will be turned over to US Immigration officials and be deported back to his home county of Mexico. I don't get it???? What's your thoughts???

Do a search for a listing in the county in which you need a bail bonds. We can't help find the listing without knowing which county you need a bond. If your car is impounded, you can get it when you bond out the will give you the information of the wrecker service. The car will have to be legal before it is released insurance tags etc. You will have to pay the impound fee.
