QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Question #1: I have several e series bonds that are set to expire soon. Will the Tr

Best Answer

No, you have to take them to a bank, credit union, etc. to cash them in. Once they've reached their final maturity date, they stop earning interest, but will maintain their value so it's not like you lose all the money if you don't cash it in...you just don't get any more interest.

Question #2: What are United States Government"F" Series Bonds?

Steve Sjuggerud is recommending his "True Wealth" publication and recommends U.S. Gov't created "F" series Bonds.

Question #3: series ee bonds?

Iwhat college expenses are tax deductible...are room and board, books, computers, etc...deductible...also, how come after 10 years all my 6% bonds that i got in the nineties are paying only 4%..ithought the interest rate is fixed until you cash em.....please clarify...thanks sid

Best Answer

Only bonds issued after May 2005 earn fixed interest. Bonds issued in prior years were subject to the semi-annual interest rate adjustment that may flucuate either up or down. If you are only earning 4%, you might consider cashing them in and open an online saving account. If you use them for "qualified" higher education expenses, you aren't required to pay tax on the earnings.

Question #4: Barry Bonds world series?

Do you think Bonds cares more about individual stats or winning a world series. if you have to pick one. Do you think he would give up 300 HRs to win a world series? and come no where near setting any HR records.

Best Answer

Bonds seems like a selfish kind of guy (he collects hella memorabilia of himself if I understood that right on "Bonds on Bonds"), but like most athletes I have to assume he wants a championship more than anything. If he was simply about records, you'd think he'd want to go to the AL so he could DH.

Question #5: Series I Bonds?

I bought a series I bond(only 1) this month for $50 when i received it in the mail i received (4) bond notes that were $50 each. Y is this?

Best Answer

Series I bonds are issued at face value, so 4 $50 I bonds would need to be purchased for $200. First, I'd check to see if $200 was debited from your account (if you used Treasury Direct). Then, I'd contact the Treasury. I attached the link for their email form below, but I'd never use a link from a public site to contact someone. So, I'd just suggest that you go to treasurydirect.gov and look under "Contact us".
