I'm currently making a formal business letter. I got the first things to write down (Date, address, Address sending to,etc.) When it came to the body, What was i supposed to do? P.S. (Business Letter to Microsoft trying to get background research from the company)

Hi! Since you don't give your reasons for doing this, one has to assume this information is needed for an assignment, as follows: Dear Sir: My name is ______ and I am a student at ____________. The reason for my letter is that one of my assignments is to obtain some background research from your company. It would be most appreciated if you would respond with the following information. For example: what year was Microsoft established? What was your first major product? How big is your facility? How many employees do you have? (you can add a lot more here) It would be extremely helpful if you could respond to these questions along with any other information that you think would be of interest to me. If anyone could help, it would be great. I need to write a letter to a customer whose picket fence I ran over. He suggested I leave the money in his mailbox because he and I are never off at the same time so I can personally deliver it. It feels impolite to just leave the money, so I thought I'd add a personal note to show that both I and the business I work for want him to continue doing business with us. But I don't know what to write, everything that comes to mind sounds too personal to me and not business enough; or too cold when I try to make it more business-like, like I'm just doing this to make sure we keep getting his money and couldn't care less about him (which is probably the fastest way to lose a customer). Any help on what to write or how to write this letter would be great.

I am required to do a business letter for my boss's insurance firm. I have very little experience in writing (I'm only 19, so no college degree-yet). I feel lucky to even have been offered this job because of my lack of experience in this field. Even though I'm not all that "qualified", I still believe I can do a good business letter....I just need some good advice, lol. What are the basic fundamentals you need for writing a business letter? We're sending this letter out to all major business in our area to convince them that our practice is is the cream of the crop (in so many words). However, being new to the job I don't have that much knowledge about the business and naturally I am afraid, lol. I just need some direction.....please someone with a degree in journalism respond-lol.
