Question #1: What is the best business magazine?
|
|
My husband loves to read my business magazines that I bring home from work, but I would love to get him a couple subscriptions of his own of some really good magazines. Any suggestions?
I've heard Forbes, Time, Business 2.0, Business Week, Fast Company, Fortune, Wired, and Entrepreneur are all pretty good. Has anyone read these? Good or not good?
Thanks.
Oh, for more info.. he owns his own business in the industrial market, in case that helps with any suggestions.
Best Answer
I recently read an issue of the economist on an airplane which was left behind by a prior passenger. I really enjoyed the articles in there, and was happy to see them take a more international approach to their articles than most.

Question #2: Why the dollars decline isnt a downer?
|
|
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/
07_03/b4017032.htm?chan=search
That is a link to the business week magazine with an article. I want to know what peoples reactions are to this article and what they thing of the dollar declining. First correct answer is garanteed 10 points
Best Answer
I haven't read the article but the dollar decline vs other currencies is not a big downer for most american businesses because America has many global corporations. The dollar decline means their revenues in other countries is worth more when converted into USD for their consolidated balance sheets. Also, when the USD goes down, our exports are cheaper for other countries to buy and increases our overseas sales. Kind of encourages both domestic and foreign sales since domestically, imported products will cost more.

Question #3: this appears to be a more accurate version of the business week poll.
|
|
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/
03_49/b3861088.htm
looks like 36% of military relatives opposed bush. but it is an old poll. i think 2005.
dec. 2003. sorry. actually poll done in sept 2003. but if the sentiment was that bad then, imagine what it is now.
Best Answer
Business week is misleading with these numbers. Although the numbers are factually correct, the "headline" is actually a bald-faced lie.
Do a little background research, and what you find out is although the troop approved of Bush at 78 percent, the families of troops (a much higher numeric value) approved at a 8 percent approval.
When they average those two groups together, the result is 36 percent, but that certainly doesn't mean the troops disapprove of Bush. It means that families who have been missing their loved ones for years, disapprove of the person who sent them away.
Gee, thats a shocker, now isn't it?
Of course, Business week doesn't come out and say that, and indeed, they interview a military member who is one of the 22% who disapprove of Bush.
With misleading media, you have to research the background numbers. There's lies, there's darn lies, and then there's statistics

Question #4: Can you sort the following magazines by its popularoity? Time, Busines
|
|
Best Answer
The Economist (fleet Streets' Finest)
Time
Fortune
Business Week
In all fairness though they are all good reads and each is popular with the general population. to choose a best or most popular is not really fair. Each is different in its own way. BUt each is also damn good.
|
Question #5: Business Week or Forbes magazines ?
|
|
Which of these magazines do you prefer, and why? What do you consider to me the main strengths and weaknesses of each title?
Best Answer
I read Forbes. I have been reading it now for 4 years. I really get a lot out of their articles. Granted they do have lots of ads... but I dont read Business Week.
Might I suggest that when you buy your subscription, do it through ebay, becasue it'll save you loads of money. That's what I did, I got 3 years of it for 15 bucks.
