The type of business I recommend that has the lowest investment is a home based business. Most home based business cost under $500 to start. most don't have any overhead like traditional business's do, but they have the same income opportunity. I'm not sure what things you like to do, so I'll tell you a little bit about what my husband and I do and point you out to a few other ones. Over six years ago, we got started in our home based business in the telecommunications industry. We partnered up with a 15 year old world wide company that offers services that people use every day and pay for anyway. Services such as local and long distance telephone services, VOIP, Internet, video phones, digital, Satallite T.V. and all the major cellular phone companies like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Alltel, Nextel, Disney etc have partnered up with them too. How many people do you know, or know of, that has one or more of these types of services? Think about how nice it would be to be able to save them money on the services that they are already using every day and paying for anyway, then every time they pay their telecommunications bills each month, you make a percentage every single month. There is a lot of money in this industry. We've been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated us the 22nd fastest growing company. I have a few friends that have started businesses, one a rug and home accessory, and another a furniture business, I have always wanted to own a small furniture and home accent business and have gone to the market in High Point NC and Atlanta Georgia.Buying from the manufacturer is not cheap and the mark up would have to be ridiculas.You also have to make major purchases to carry most lines of furniture. I would be more interested in discontinued or floor samples.They both are very successful and are hush hush about where they get their merchandise. but I do know that they get it dirt cheap and they travel to pick everything up.I am more interested in sofas. Can anyone give me some ideas where to start. Thanks Rob B.

You might try joining an industry association, with which you could obtain a list of other members, including their specialty. I'm not sure which association but look for something similar to a furniture wholesalers association. Good luck!

By electrical machines do you mean like electric motors? or electrics like what inside copy machines? The key to starting a successful business is to develop a business plan and a marketing plan. 1. Find out if there is a need for your services. Sit down with the phone book and start calling companies that use the machines you can repair. Ask them if they use an outside service for repairs. 2. Once you know that there is a market for your service you need to decide how you are going to let that market know that you are available. Sales letters? Telemarketing? Flyers? Cold Calling? These all work in various forms. Also, join local business groups such as chambers of commerce and meet other business owners who can use your service or refer you to people that can. 3. Now you need to act, get out there and sell!
