Does anyone know of a small manufacturing business that would be good to start but wouln't cost alot to start? Any small manufacturing business that you know of that are for sale that are relocateable?

The business is in manufacturing. Gross sales of $2,000,000 per year. Net profit about 34% 6 years old. Steady and stable growth form the begining. Set up as an S Corp Business is in California. Yes 34% net is correct

I wouldn't sell a business with that profit margin. 34% net? do you mean 3-4%? I can't think of many businesses that you'll be able to make that kind of margin. If you need to sell, I would look at a business broker in your area to maximize the sale price. If the profit margin really is that high and you own assets, you need a salesman to market the sale. Eventhough the broker will cost you a lot of money, selling the biz could be extremely profitable if you can do it. I don't know manufacturing, but worth is usually 2 times yearly profit plus assets. So really, you're selling your potential cash flow and I would sell that as soon as I could...trying to sell your own biz is very hard. Brokers will screen calls and attract buyers.

Hi, I just found my break even point for my small manufacturing, distributing and retail business. But now that I have the cost side of things figured out, what is the next step for me to do with this information? How can I make the most use of this? I've started a small company selling patient gowns, i'm just one employee..having some other company do the manufacturing and shipping and I'm pitching the sales to the healthcare institutions to supply them with the gowns, as well as selling to individual consumers. I am just starting out so no money to hire employees... So what am I?? Distributor? Supplier? CEO? Owner? What should I put under my name on the business card? i was gonna add "or should I just not put anything?"

It seems to Me The entire economy (housing, manufacturing, etc) came to a grinding halt in August-September. The first 6 months of the year were the best we have seen in 5 years, July-present, the worst in 10. There always tends to be a slow down near election times ( I have tracked our sales back 10 years and there is slow down), my gut tells me that people are waiting to see what happens next week. Even though next weeks outcome has nothing to do with anything, the elections produce fear and uncertainty, and as such, people quit spending & fixing. My Small Home Improvemt Business Went from Busy to DOA and I have never seen it so Bad so Fast......

Housing dumped in many areas due to over-inflated prices. Now people are stuck with homes that are not worth as much as when they bought them. If you were in that situation would you spend money on your house? Phoenix and Las Vegas are perfect examples of what I'm talking about. More recently Phx. I saw 10-30 offers per home. in that environment you have to pay over asking price significantly. When appraisers are appraising they are using overinflated comps and the process continues. Your business is suffering because your city may have experienced something somewhat similar. When your home's worth less than what you owe you wont spend money on the house. As for small business in general many businesses in that industry are going through the same thing. So it depends on what segments you look at.
