Corporate Business Law Lawyers

I'm going to be applying this fall to transfer to a university and right now I have a 3.04 gpa. I'm a business administration major and hope to go to law school afterwards and become a corporate lawyer. I'm particularly interested in business law. Also, I'd like to go to a school that's in an area where there's a lot of things to do, there's more girls than guys, and is as far away from Orange County as possible.

The Cal-State schools are all pretty good for business. I think Long Beach State has the best program, but since you want to get away from Orange County you may want to consider San Jose State or San Francisco State.

in university do i need to take or major in business? i know you dont have to, but is it better to? or is it better to take courses like history? because corporate law deals with business type matters..so wouldnt it be better to major in business? all the guidance counsellors are telling me i can major in whatever i want to become a lawyer, and i understand that..what i dont understand is how i am going to understand all the concepts and stuff in corporate law if i didnt take any business or math courses in university.

Major in the field that you are going to achieve the best results in and will enjoy the most because the law side is very hard work. I have a friend who graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Forensics) and then went on to complete his LLB who got a graduate position at Ernst&Young- one of the top four audit businesses in the world! He said the corporate law elective in 4th yr explained the basics he had to know, the rest he has learned on the job. If you are going to struggle or not enjoy business- dont do it. Do a major that you enjoy and reap the benefits of good marks- these will get you a grad position in corporate law.

Ahhh, that's a toughie... First, doctor is out of the question. Yes, I like helping people, but I'm a little "squeemish," and the whole idea of it isn't that attractive. I always wanted to be a lawyer, but recently I'm questioning myself because I'm good at math... so I might wanna become an accountant. Personally, I need more time to decide, but I'm leaning a little bit more towards criminal law because it's just more fun, and exciting in a way.

I learned that, unless you are a lawyer, you are actually not fully able to exercise your rights as a citizen in the US. I am not particularly interested in becoming a doctor, not only because I am not fond of other people's blood, but also because I am not crazy about all the math and chemistry work. Not being crazy about math also disqualifies me from being as interested in accounting. On the positive side towards law, I am interested in helping others, can be persuasive, like to read and write, and can be articulate. I like to debate issues and have the ability to see events from more than one interpretation or perspective. I can remain neutral and follow a set of rules to act as an objective observer or argue a position with which I did not personally agree, but had to rely on the rationality of others to determine a solution. In my position as an advisor, I have already presented arguements before an academic conduct committee on behalf of a student as well as arguing on the behalf of students in dismissal and reinstatement committee meetings. So in a way, I am also more familiar with being a lawyer from my current position! The idea that all lawyers are social leaches is nonsense. Some do pro bono (free) work and others promote social causes. Many politicians are lawyers (although that doesn't necessarily say much for their honesty or ethics). So it seems to me that a degree in law leads to many possible careers as well as being useful in life in a country where so many people are prone to litigation.
