I am from Pakistan.. I am applyin for US universities for my higher studies.. few days before one of my friend told me bout Corporate Law.. I want to know what exactly is Corporate Law and what is its scope in and outside United States??!!

You need an undergraduate degree before applying to a law school, there is a good scope of Corporate (business) law in US and other countries as well, even in Pakistan there is a lot of scope for corporate law b/c of the multinational companies... After undergraduate you need to do three years of law school and then a bar exam... As a corporate lawyer you need to check if the company is investing properly or if their contracts and agreements are correct... You should take business courses (e.g. accounting, finance, etc...)

i am currently doing my undergrad in business. i first thought i wanted to be in finance, but now i realize i am more interested in law. am thinking about corporate / real estate law for law school. my gpa is fairly low. i would still like to get into a good law school. if i can change the trend of my grades (even though that won't bump my gpa up to any good range), get a good score on lsat..would that help me in getting into any good schools? what else can i do to increase my chances? plus, any info about law school and the topics of corporate law and real estate law in school and career wise will also be appreciated!! thanks!

I am a student in business school who is thinking of going to law school. I have read blogs and a lot of people say that while corporate law is lucrative, it leads one to misery. Is it really so bad? Are there other areas of law that are more interesting or lead one to happiness?

I'm a lawyer...If you are thinking of law school, go ahead and apply. Don't decide which area of practice you want to go into until you have some contact with all of these areas. Law school will help you understand what is involved in each of these areas. To answer your question, corporate law is not miserable in and of itself. It really depends on what motivates you and where your interests lie. Actually, being a family law attorney or criminal law attorney can be much worse...it really depends on your point of view. If you have a family practice, you will deal with people that are always in a terrible situation...divorce, death, etc. Criminal law can leave you dealing with the worst segment of society. In corporate law, it is much drier work...not as much emotion, but more details and financial dealings. Some of it can be very mundane, much like a CPA's work, but it really depends on what you like. Some people love details and seeing to every tiny detail...others love the emotion and passion that are involved in trial law. Even if you don't like any of it, a law degree can be one of the most useful degrees you can earn. You can do almost anything with the education that you will recieve.
