It's probably a Vantage score (scale to 990). Your FICO is probably about 100 points lower but that would still be a decent score. Creditors use FICO. Best place to get real, up-to-date FICO score is MyFico.com. You have to pay for the score.

All 3 gave me my credit report on line. The report is free, but if you want your credit score you have to pay. Remember, you can check your credit report free one a year. So if you see something not right, write down the info then. You can't return to the report for free until a year later.

I tried to obtain a free credit report from TransUnion through AnnualCreditReport.com and when it directs you to the TransUnion site it directs you through a maze of purchase options until you get dumped out without the free report. Then when you go back to the AnnualCreditReport site there is a check mark that indicates you used your free option and cannot repeat it. When I contact TransUnion directly online or via phone their service is so poor that I cannot get through. On the phone the computer cannot recognize my mailing info verbally and digitally entered. The online site directs me to the phone process. It is like a dead end maze. Any ideas?

I'm a little concerned and confused. I've been trying to sort out my debt and went online to get my credit report on Trans Union and I see credit cards on there from 1997 and 1998. When do these drop off? I'm trying really hard to get back on track here. My twin sister opened the same credit cards when we were young and stupid and she decided to file bankrupsy a couple years ago. Her credit is back on track and mine is still horrible, and she had way more debt than me. I'm thinking I should've taken the easy way out like she did. She can get new credit cards now and everything and I can't even open a bank account at Bank of America! It's embarrassing. It all started when we started college and they offered us credit cards at 18 yrs old. What 18 yr old wouldn't be thrilled to have what we thought at the time was "free money"? Anyways if anyone can also let me know what banks in New England would accept someone with not so good credit. I'm moving there in a couple months.

Well first we need to correct some people here as they obviously do not understand what they are talking about. Dan - There most certainly IS a statue of limitations on debt. This is the length of time a creditor can legally sue someone to collect the debt. Once the SoL has passed the debtor no longer has a legal obligation to repay the debt. Bdancer - For like the hundreth time, it's 7 years, not 7 1/2. This is clearly outlined in the FCRA. Satin360 - You actually gave a good answer and I just wanted to correct one thing. Those companies that cost so much money do what is called debt validation and can easily be done on your own. You can check out the links in my profile for more information. exuifax and experian were both listed with info and a score but under trans union there was only a previous address no credit information and the score was listed 0. how do I find out (online preferably) what my transunion credit and score are?

If there was no score for Trans union that is because none of your current creditors report to Trans union. It is possible not to have a score and that does not mean it is BAD CREDIT. You just don't have ANY CREDIT to produce a score. The best and easiest way to get a perfect credit score for Trans Union is to open a credit card or secure credit card that you know reports to all three major credit bureaus! (Just ask the company you apply to if they report monthly to trans union) Every creditor does not necessary report to all three credit bureaus, that is why you have three different scores. I know because I own a credit repair / education company.

I want to see my credit reports and scores from Trans Union, Experian and Equifax. Is there a safe, inexpensive way to do this? So many websites, from $40-$75, for this info. I would go to annualcreditreport.com. They actually offer you a free crdit report 1x a year from all 3 company's and then while you are doing that, they also offer you to get your score for low price. They are not a scam, they have been shown on our local news channel and I have used them for the past 3 years now.

Without having to do it online (I don't want to give credit card info). Main credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, Trans Union.

Be sure to go through the above web page, though. You will have to answer some questions about information that is on your credit report to verify your identity: Such as 'Your mortgage payment is ..." and then they will list 4 options and you have to choose the right one.

It sounds like you probably have little or no credit, and a job that they feel isn't enough to support a credit card bill (possibly no job). It's better than poor credit, but they need to know you are "good" for the loan. You should see if somebody, usually a parent, will cosign for you. If the payments are paid on time it will help build you credit. But if you are late on payments then your credit rating will go down.
