I recently asked for my free annual credit report and equifax wouldn't send it to me because my account appears to be frozen. Why would this happen if I didn't freeze it and how can I unfreeze it? Does this mean somebody tried to steal my identity? I tried calling but the number they have is all automated. Can somebody please help me understand what is happening? Thanks.

Could you please help me I have good report with Equifax and not so good with TransUnion and I would like to apply for couple of lines of credit but I am not sure which banks pull only Equifax? Thank you

I was denied employment in a major canadian bank due to a collection notice on my credit report. Can i get assisitance in gettin this negative report from my credit report so i can get the job. I need to get it removed from my credit report as soon as possible? Any suggestions on how i can have this removed. The collection bill has already been paid.

Without more information it's difficult to say for certain. I guess you could try the "hail mary" option and dispute the entry with the credit bureaus in the hopes that the creditor doesn't respond in time to the inquiry from the CRAs and they delete the entry. There's no guarantee, but it may be worth a shot. Of course even if it works you'll be waiting 30 days or more just to find out which way the CRAs are going to go. Sorry.

You get it at https://www.annualcreditreport.com and you can get it three times a year if you ask only one of the reporting agencies for a report every four months. If you go directly to the site of the three agencies: Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion, they will charge for the report. Also, when you ask for your free report, they will suggest you buy your credit score from them. The free report does not include your credit score. You have to pay for that, but you don't really need it.

I have a combination of Open, Closed, Revolving, consolidated and unconsolidated student loans, and a couple credit cards I have never used. I have averaged these in many different ways but have not yet arrived at the "Average Account Age" that is reported in the Equifax credit report. For those who haven't purchased their report, an "average account age" is given, and the longer it is, the better for one's credit score. Hopefully someone who has a simpler credit history can shed some light on how it is calculated. Thanks!

I believe it is oldest account (in month) plus newest account (in month) divided by 2. Card 1: 24 month Card 2 : 16 month ==> 24+16= 40 / 2 = 20 month (1 year 8 Month ) average account age.
