Experian Credit Report Address

I recieved my Experian Credit Report today. Under Personal Info it shows two names Names (My name) Name Idenitication number: XXXX (Someone's else name but not mine) Name Idenitication number: XXXX Addresses: (My address) (someone else's address) (my address again) --------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- What does this mean? Why does it show another name? Btw, this credit company shows I have a credit card account jointed I NEVER opened. It was opened when I was 15. Many people fail to realize that the CRA's are "extremely" sloppy and error prone in how they do business. They will take information that is similar to a square peg and jam it into a round hole and force it to fit. (they do it so often it is almost like they take pride in how many errors they can make) (sorry, mini CRA rant over now) I have to agree with bdancer in both of your questions. An ID thief steals ID's to gain as much credit as they can, then to run the credit up to the hilt, and beyond if they can, and as fast as they can. They don't steal ID's, in general, to apply for only one single card, to use that one card sparingly (over several years) and they usually don't make payments on cards they received from theft. The card was also closed "in good standing" due to inactivity. You might order your other two credit reports to see if it is reporting on those as well. I agree with bdancer that it does sound like a credit bureau mistake. Do like bdancer said and dispute the erroneous personal information and the Chevron account. I wouldn't recommend telling them you feel it is because of fraud or ID theft, since it truly does not look that way from what you posted. If you do claim ID theft/fraud in your dispute then they will probably throw a fraud alert on your files and the other CRA's will follow. Having that happen if it were truly ID theft isn't a bad idea. But if it's the CRA's mistake you would have the unneeded hassle of the fraud alert to deal with everytime you decide to apply for credit. You might simply dispute the errors as just that. Tell them that you have no knowledge or record of that name, address and account and that you believe Experian was in error by placing that name, address and account on your credit report. That you request removal of the name, address and account. That if the name, address and account is verified and remains, you are requesting that they provide you with the name and address of the verifying party. Send your request in writing. If it's verified, send a letter to Chevron and explain pretty much the same thing. That you feel they are reporting erroneously on your credit reports and that you are requesting proof that your name is tied to that account.

I've been off the credit card grid for quite some time so the info on my reports is outdated ... old addresses, old employers. Most of the information I've found about correcting a credit report concerns disputes. I'm wondering, should I contact Experian, etc. to update my information? Thanks for the help!

i am trying to get a loan for a house a old bill is stopping me i recently got it canceld through the hospital it was for. i wasn't working at the time of need. i filled out a charity app. and gave it to them they got my address mixed up and some how sent the bill to collection later on down the road i found a steady job and went to get a loan from the bank and they found it on my report.so i rented the house i wanted to buy on lease until i took care of this bill, i have one month and a few day's left to get my loan. i contacted the hospital for a second time, the first time they said i would have to pay the bill, now i went through a new charity form based on my income now and got 100 percent charity for the bill.it has been canceld, i called the collection agency through the hospital and they confirmed it was canceld.the collection agency that put the bill on the report is out of buisness. i have to get this off my experian credit report, any one know how? please help a good family

find out who the new collection agency is for this hospital; they should have "inherited" all the old accounts. go after them to have them take it off your credit report. more than likely they will put it off on the hospital, and the hospital will put it off on the collection agency, but don;t give up. in the meantime, show the bank all the papers regarding this debt, that it has been cancelled, etc. explain the situation to them; depending on your relationship with the bank this may be enough until it gets taken off completely. good luck to you!

I recently got an Experian credit report which was fine. Now with me being me I edited my address as it was not quite how I write it, and now I have no details like I had before. I changed it back to how it was but still no details like the first time. I tried calling Experian but they are closed until tomorrow but I wondered if any of you guys could put my mind at ease tonight, have I messed up my report?!

No...THEY messed up your report...it might take a couple trys...but dont give up..it took me three tries with the same situation

What is the telephone number of Experian, Transunion, and equifax? I need to send them a letter from the collection agency that they want my account deleted, they sent the request and sent me proof in letter form. The telephone numbers for these 3 agencies lead me nowhere, I never get in contact with a live rep. Can anyone help guide, me on how I can get the account removed, I have the deletion letter with me. Thanks.
