I would like to talk with someone that has used legal aid, To get a DIVORCE ? I need to talk with someone that has used legal aid. they have me in contact with a lawyer. if you have used legal aid hot long did it take to get a divorce ? Plese get in touch with me you u or someone you know has used legal aid...... I need advice fast please.................................

Hi Nancy: Yes. I used Legal Aid twice to get divorced. If you haven't the money, and you need help, contact the legal aid office and ask for a good lawyer that works with divorce cases. If this is a difficult divorce, and you are confused ask for an apt. asap. I found a wonderful lawyer after I saw, talked with, and dropped 3 lawyers. Even though you don't have money, you have rights to a good lawyer, and one that will understand you. I have learned that I must respect myself through life first off. My children were there and watching all. They do as we do..... I am in a wonderful new relationship, and happy I stood by myself with honour and respect. At times I sure felt like I was a stupid person.....not so.... Keep Believing in you, all will work out one way or another. luv and thoughts, Ava xx

how much can you earn before you cant get legal aid how do you get it and how much do you have to be on to get it ? please help ! it is because my husband was going to adopt my son but when my sons bilogcal father found out he as applied for access once a week because his mum has pushed him to do it ! he hasnt been around since my son was 1 he is now 6 and he is also autistic and knows my husband as daddy he is a wonderful dad and could not have anyone better hes so lovely with my son they both love each other to bits . the real father used to hit us both and do drugs can anyone tell us are our chances good ? we really ned help its breaking our hearts please if you can help we are in the uk if this helps

There are two types of legal aid. One is provided for by the county - public defenders and will only be given if you meet the income standards set by the county (it is different for each county, but usually is some % of the federal poverty level. I have seen it go as high as 250% of the poverty level - that is for free services). If you do not qualify for free services they will use a sliding scale as to how much you will be charged. However, public defenders are only provided for criminal offenses (when you are arrested). I'm going to assume you are looking for legal aid for a private civil matter. In the private context, there are private legal aid organizations - such as Prairie State Legal Services, Inc. in Illinois, that will review/take your case if you meet their eligibility requirements (low-income). But, there is a high demand for such services and even if you qualify, they may not be able to take you as a client. As for if you are eligible, you are going to have to contact them directly, each legal aid organization has their own critiera. Again, they will usually have a sliding scale in place if you do not qualify for free services and their full rates are probably lower then a private attorney. Your first step should be to call a legal help line - usually provided by the same legal aid organizations. They will instruct you as to the best course of action to take. You can do an internet search under "legal aid organizations" for your state. Hope this helps.

people who are not lawyers and who are have been telling me for over 30 years that legal aid is sopost to handel cases that i have had. legal aid has never handeled anything ever for me that i have asked hepl with.now legal aid was given my insurance money by my insurance company whithout my aproval and spent on a contracter that i did not aprove of that renovated my entier house remodaling & making all possabel improvments that a house could have when my house was arsened and only patr of 2 rooms were damaged. total dammages were 18,000 i had receaved that check. without my aproval, that chech was shredded and insurance company wrote half the checke to a contracter & legal aid wrote the other half of the checks to the contracter. the contracter i had tore up the estimit that i had receaved. and did not aprove of. now my house value is more than twice its value than befor the arson. i beleave this is insurance froud by insurance co. man & legal aid. brother threw away all my possions

About 5 years ago, I was involved in a motor accident. A few years later I decided to see a lawyer about it. However, my lawyer informed me that since the incident took place too long ago, it may not be able to co-ordinate benefeits. So I decided to withdraw from the case. That was about 2 years ago, now just the other day I received a letter from my lawyer saying I have to go to court for reasons unknown to me. I'm wondering, should I or should I not go, and if I do go, will it cost me legal fees. Finally, do I need a lawyer if I am to go to this court hearing? Thank you!
