How do you become a Real Estate Agent...? I want to become a real Estate Agent and I live in California. What is the first step I have to take, do I have to go to school ... What is the process, please give me feed back on what you know .....and if you do it, do you like what you do... thank you.

How does someone go into real estate investing? Are there any good books about it that offer real guidance? I am very ignorant about real estate, I'm young and have no steady income at the moment. Any help is appreciated.

1)Reading books on the topic is a good idea. But, don't expect to get what you need entirely from books. 2)Going to real estate school and getting your license will help you understand the transaction process and it will save you a little money down the road on real estate commisssions since you can do your own transactions, but it is not a requirement. And, it will most likely not help you learn to make good investment decisions. For that, you need some hands on training. 3)For hands on training, I recommend you find other investors in your community and offer to find properties for them to purchase for a fee. This involves none of your own money, but will allow you to earn a little bit while you are learning to find good properties and getting the hang of knowing how much to pay for them. I live in Chicago IL, I'm thinking about going into real estate as a new career. Is the pay for real estate high and is it a good career move.

All depends on the type of person you are. Basically, in Real Estate you get what you put into it. If you want to work very little you get very little in return. This is kind of an open ended question so I will try to answer it the best I can. I do not know any business that is "easy" to start and/or run. Here are a few job titles in that are related in someway to the real estate industry. Real Estate agent Mortgage Broker Home Inspector Real Estate Investor Land developer

You mean laptop, PDA, that sort of thing? Yeah, I've got a laptop if I need (rarely) access to the programs I regularly use when I'm out of the office. But that's a sideshow. I'm concentrating on the people and on the property. Show me an agent that answers a cell phone or an email when they're with a client, and I'll show you someone you shouldn't do business with. For the money they're being paid, if they cannot give you their undivided attention, then they are too busy to give your transaction the attention it needs. It's okay to have a loan processor or a transaction coordinator for the routine stuff. But not the loan pricing, not the marketing, definitely not the negotiations, and never ever the client interaction.
