You should only do day trading if you have the time and the tool to track it.

I accidently tossed a some kind of brochere in the trash earlier this week. I recall a little info on some stock--I believe the abreviation for the stock/share was "turb"? Or something like that. In the brochere [think it was probably from around Jan.2007], it stated that "they predicted this share to go up to 600% increase between 2008-2010. and it was one of the "hot stock picks" for 2007. I'd like to buy some shares. Do any of you savvy stock holders know exactly what I'm referring to? {because I don't, lol}HELP!! WANNA BUY some of these shares! :-D

well first it is a good thing you tossed that as it was a SCAM LVLT is a good internet backbone speculative purchase and is trading at about 6/share at the moment Those "newsletters" are about stocks that do not trade anywhere but what are known as the pink sheets which are essentially non exchanged traded stocks of realllly small companies many of which are just scams set up for the newsletter crowd to tout and suck money out of people who think any thing below 4/share is worth owning....few companies below 3 are worth owning EVER do a search on touting and penny stocks and READ about whatever you plan to put your money into I cannot emphasize enough the importance of investing in the AMEX exchange or the NYSE or NASDAQ. at least there you have a modicum of security and transperancy in company numbers. Stay away from the pink sheets also known as BBOTC or OTC stocks they are POISON and if someone sends you spam or mail touting about a particular stock it is a SCAM as touting is illegal in and of itself.

We've been struggling for some time now and this living day to day routine is killing us financially in many ways. We will be coming upon some spare income soon and would LOVE to invest a portion in order to create a nice nest egg again. Any LEGITIMATE input on HOT stocks and companies that are worth investing in over the long haul... would be greatly appreciated! thank you

Looking for a long haul nest egg type stock. Look for large strong companies who will pay you a dividend. Examples in the Financial sector Citibank (stock symbol C) or Bank of America (BAC) paying about 4% dividends, Communications ATT (T) and Verizon (VZ) are paying over 4% also. There are others take a look around. A safer bet would be ETF's you should read up on those. I currently own SDY a dividend ETF that has about 2.5% dividend yield. Not much but the YTD growth has been 11%. I hope it keeps up. When it reaches 20% I'll sell a little to take some profit and find another ETF to invest in. Happy Hunting

If any of us actually KNEW what stocks would post a gain in the next 3-5 weeks, we'd be billionaires. The stock market is yuppy gambling, but usually more stable. I'd look for small companies that are about to have an initial stock offering. Also look for seasonal related businesses. The next three months are the busiest time of the year for restaurants, retailers, utilities in colder climates, and many travel related companies. Here is a small tech company out of California that has gone from a little over $6.00 in march 2006 to $10.21 as of today. It's rated 4.3 on an aggressive scale of 5.0. Depends on what you mean by hot. If you're looking for junk that's "moving" and just looks exciting, but has no real substance, I can't help you. I don't watch that stuff. If you're looking for quality stocks that have big growth potential, Landec (LNDC) looks interesting. I think 1-800-Flowers (FLWS) may turn around soon, and if it does, it may have room to run. And Varsity Group (VSTY) should have a nice run over the next year.
